Why Didn’t Somebody Say Something by Style by Yellow Tulip
It never ceases to amaze me the sights that I see when wandering around Auckland. I am sure they appear in other parts of NZ as well? We are all just too polite to say anything. I was keen to get proof of the ‘walking disasters’ that are everywhere – but it just wasn’t appropriate to re-advertise what we all see (but wish we didn’t).
Perhaps I am fortunate to have very truthful friends, who will say what’s on their mind when it comes to anything that I choose to wear. When asked, I normally precursor my comment with ‘do you want my honest opinion, or do you want me to tell you what you want to hear?’.
It is hard when we all like such different styles and colours, which may be completely contrary to our own likes and dislikes – however our friends can be our worst and harshest critics and there’s a reason for that. What saves me, I hope from being a walking disaster, is the fact I have wisely invested in a full-length mirror. Doesn’t everyone own one? It was hard to find exactly what I wanted, so I had one made from Mainly Mirrors in Epsom, who did a fabulous job for me (one that I’m sure makes me look thinner and younger amongst other things). I never leave home without first checking that the mirror doesn’t answer me back with a look of “horror and disgust” otherwise, I can safely leave the house, knowing that I am all ok.
