It’s been a long time
It has been an incredibly long time since I last put my fingers to the keyboard and wrote a blog …. I don’t know why I haven’t, and can only put it down to life in general just getting in the way.
The start of 2020 has been full of long hot summers days. I’m making the most of getting outdoors and enjoying nature at its best. Whether it be walking, running, the odd swim at the beach (I still haven’t managed the art of getting into the water quickly) or relaxing with a good read – its all about making the most of life and the outdoors.
Not one to spend much time indoors, I’ve loved any chance to use my two latest purchases being the vivoactive 4S Garmin watch and the fabulous sounding Jabra elite 75t earbuds . I thought it was about time my 2007 i-pod nano was finally allowed to retire gracefully. She has served me well for over 12 years – running faithfully through rain, hail, sun and wind.
Having coveted a Garmin watch for years – I finally bought one as a Christmas present to myself. She fits perfectly, looks great on my wrist and tells me all I need to know. More importantly, my Garmin ensures I have breaks often by reminding me to move; keeps me updated on my stress levels and tells me to relax when the body battery appears to be running low!! My running Spotify list syncs seamlessly to my earbuds and away I go.
I don’t take too literally all the data my Garmin throws at me…. but feel in capable hands that my health is well looked after; (that is until the watch battery goes low) and needs a re-charge (but don’t we all)!! Happy days.

It has been a long time! Hello! Lucky you having a summer where you can get out amongst it! Sadly our QLD summer has been such that most of my exercise has been undertaken inside either at the Pilates studio or my treadmill at home! I don’t have a Garmin watch, but I do have a Fitbit which does much the same thing. And like you, I don’t take it too seriously, but it is good to be reminded to move and to see what my activity levels are! 😃
Has your summer been that bad? I hope ours doesn’t end. Thank goodness plenty of indoor activities to keep you fit and healthy. Thanks for reading my blog … xx
It has! First it was bone dry with temps in the high 30’s, accompanied by dust and smoke (from all the bushfires) so we had to stay mostly indoors for the sake of our lungs; and the last 10 days we’ve had non stop rain and high humidity! So yes, thank goodness for inside options 😃
Great to hear from you Helen. Likewise our summer has been pretty good and have tried to be outside as much as possible. Have been busy too with getting back from Queen concert in Dunedin last night after participating in the half marathon in Westport on Saturday and coming 3rd in my age group with my slowest time yet! Not sure how that came about. I have a fitbit watch and that helps me to keep a check on what is going on. Look forward to catching up sometime during the year.
