NZ Fashion Week has just finished for another year and, as always, the highlight for me is going to the coveted Zambezi Fashion Show.  The sophistication and ability to show an edgy, timeless style year and year is evident in not only my wardrobe, but many other lovers of this label.  Their winter collection for 2016 had their signature black, along with mauve and a soft putty brown.  The clothes aren’t fussy, with minimal accessories, and the briefcase being the bag of choice.  Shoes were practical by way of boots.  An effortless show worthy of the international stage.

The weekend shows were open to the public, with the cheapest tickets costing $25.00 each, which gave you entry into the Designer Garage Sale.  My friend and I went to both the Andrea Moore and Trelise Cooper shows (which had lots of colours, sequins and frills and played homage to the 70’s fashion coming our way).  I was surprised that there were a few pieces in each collection that I didn’t mind.  I have never shopped at Andrea Moore and it would have been many years ago, that I have bought anything from Trelise Cooper.  As much as I love colour, a printed fabric can date your wardrobe!

We have so many incredible designers in this country, and Fashion Week is just one of those occasions that we get to see their collections on centre-stage.  I wish we could see more.
