Used and Unwanted vs Pristine and Perfect

As mentioned last week in my blog on internet shopping, I did the only thing a girl could do and ordered an item from net-a-porter last week. I had previously placed an order with Amazon.com many weeks ago and could not believe when both purchases appeared on my doorstep together on Monday. Trying to figure out which one to open – it felt like my birthday all over again, except of course that I knew the surprise inside.

Net-a-porter was the biggest box of the two and won me over. Beautifully wrapped, new and pristine, plus a free gift made me a very happy girl. The attention to detail and quality control could not be faulted. From London to Auckland in less than 4 working days. I will definitely be back for more?My second and slightly smaller box was an absolute disappointment. The book ordered was supposed to be brand new and, as I was in no rush – was on a very slow boat from America. The wait had been lengthy and on unwrapping the book, it was clear the book was well worn and had seen better days. Oh my goodness why have they sent me a secondhand copy? No worries I thought, as can just send an email requesting a refund or at least ask for a new replacement.

Countless emails later, I guess you could say that I am currently in the negotiation stage, where the supplier is now offering me a 40% discount, which initially started at 20%. Am I being unreasonable to expect a full refund if they can’t deliver what has been paid for? How long will I be waiting for some resolution? Do I just give up and put it down to ‘a bad experience’.  I guess it’s not always smooth sailing when ordering on-line, and you just have to accept that to try and sort the problem out from so far away, isn’t always going to be easy.

Meanwhile, has it put me off Internet shopping – definitely not. I’ve already seen a great pair of shoes onwww.ShoeSales.com.au that I’m keen to purchase.  (Like I need another pair of shoes!!).  It can get pretty addictive this whole Internet shopping – so beware.  Before you realise, you’ll be converted into the comfort of shopping from home.

  1. Fab shoes will check out that website for sure. I haven’t yet made a purchase online but will have a look at Pret-a-porter too. Must tell you what great service I received at Decjuba Newmarket yesterday. Claire is always amazing but there was also the merchandiser from Oz over here. She even stopped what she was doing and showed me how to wear a rather large scarf I was getting tangled in!

    • Wow thats great service from Decjuba – I’ve not purchased from there – but always pop in to see what clothes they have as they look to have some great designs. My friend always manages to find a bargain there. I definately recommend trying internet shopping though – its been great so far for me. Yellow Tulip.
