A Glowing NZ Ruby
NZ based fashion label Ruby is all about ‘youthful elegance and adventurous charm’ and that is exactly how I feel whenever I venture into their store in Newmarket. I remember visiting their original store based in High Street (which opened back in 2002) and at some stage bought a dress that I still have sitting in my wardrobe today. Yes, I can still fit it!
I often check Ruby’s Facebook page and saw they were getting in a great print fabric in ‘Swan’ I think it was called, that came in a dress, skirt and sweatshirt. I wanted to go have a look.
As is always the way, I get slightly side-tracked when I wander into the store, and find the Tori Dress in a black and white material that I want to try on, as well as the Zanshi Dress in the Swan fabric. The style and cut of both dresses appealed on the hanger but when I put them on, they just didn’t do anything for my figure and were not flattering. The problem being that I have no real waist and a short body! The young and friendly shop assistants felt differently about how I looked, and with one of them actually wearing the Zanshi dress and looking so good in it – I decided it definitely wasn’t for me, which was a pity.
I love the fresh approach and playful attitude of the clothes in Ruby. They mix colour and design with an ease and bright-ness that girls will love. Thanks for being an awesome NZ fashion label.
I can sympathise with your frustration over some clothing that appeals not suiting you. Being only 5ft, I have a similar problem! I tried on a wrap dress the other day – supposedly a style that suits every shape – it looked like a dressing gown on me! I like the “swan” print – the pink is pretty!
Like you I have also tried on a wrap dress … that just didn’t suit me either. Supposedly a dress that suits many (just not you and me). Loved the swan print and thought could buy the sweatshirt, but seemed a waste !! Happy shopping …
I like the black and white outfit on you… Looks great!
Thanks friend – the fabric and style was great.
