The wonderful world that is WORLD
The show initially started with a nostalgia look back over the last 25 years or so and was truly a blast from the past. Bold, Bright and Big hair instantly came to mind, as images projected onto the big screen, and of course their use of an extensive colour palette any artist would love to own – distinguishes a WORLD show from any other.
From full skirts to pencil skirts, tailored pants to fitted jackets – shoes all colours of the rainbow, paired with sparkly sequin socks; the women’s range was a kaleidoscope of clashing colours and glam rich fabrics blended into one.
The men’s range reminded me of a ‘preppy American’ look – fairly fitted trousers and shirts, with bright sneakers. The suits reminded me of the 60’s – think of “Happy Days” the TV series (If you can remember that far back). Bold fabrics and stripes. Not sure how many New Zealand men would be brave enough to be seen wearing them on the streets of Auckland, or Wellington for that matter.
It was a well-put together evening of fashion and nice wines, and although I am not a WORLD fashion buyer – I am definitely keen to go visit and see exactly what I may be missing out on. Check out www.worldbrand.co.nz.
I am liking the fitted jackets and tailored pants. Saw examples of these at Ruby/Liam and Coop also.
Sounds like there will be lots to tempt us this coming spring/summer. Looking forward to seeing Trelise Cooper tomorrow and see what she has in store.
