New Beginnings
Sometimes fashion takes a back step in my life and this last week has been one of those.
I’m putting my house on the market! After many years rattling around, sometimes with house-guests and other times on my own, it is time to let go of all the memories and look forward to new beginnings; a fresh start and an adventure into the unknown.
Having watched enough reality DIY shows, it is daunting everything that you need to do, in order to get your house ready for sale, or perhaps I am just really fussy. Lately I go everywhere with a pen and paper writing copious amounts of lists (that I keep losing and then have to start again); often check the weather forecast, hoping there won’t be rain as house painting and landscaping was top of the list. I never thought of myself as a perfectionist but I do have high standards and trying to get everything exactly how I want just isn’t easy.
I know it is only going to get worse once the open homes start. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that on auction day 25th March 2015 I will be celebrating the start of a new life; which includes looking for a new house (which will have plenty of room for my clothes; a high-pitched roof; sun-drenched deck and a park nearby so I can go running).
I’ll keep you updated in regards to how the house-selling goes and if I’m popping a bottle of champagne come auction day. Next week I’ll share with you some of my favourite pieces of furniture and accessories.
It looks perfectly styled and ready for the first viewing! Good luck with it all and remember to hide anything precious out of sight – alas not everyone is trustworthy! I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get the outcome you want. And how exciting to be able to go house hunting – wish I was there to go with you as I love looking at houses!
I remember you actually helping me move into Maui Grove way back when … and alas won’t have you help me go house hunting this time. It is such a big decision choosing my next home. I have started looking seeing what is out there .. but there isn’t much that is contemporary in my budget … oh well fingers crossed the right one will appear.
Are you looking for a house or an apartment? An apartment might be good – one in the middle so there are no roof leaks! Good Luck!
Ideally want a small perfectly formed house that can fit my clothes, a baby grand piano and a little bit of grass. Solid as a rock.
Your photos look gorgeous Yellow Tulip! I love the lay out you have done and all the accessories. Looks fabulous.
Wow your home looks lovely. Hopefully all goes well for the sale. Looking forward to catching up on Tuesday.
Thanks for your lovely comment friend – it has been hard work but hopefully a sale at the end will make it all worthwhile.
this is such a step forward in your life – onwards and upwards
The hardest part is making the decision to move on, and I just need to keep looking forward. Don’t look backwards and not be afraid. xx
Looks great Helen. All the best for the auction. Fingers crossed for you. 🙂
Thanks Tessa – will take a leaf out of your book, as what an amazing new journey you are on. All the best and hopefully end of March new horizons will be appearing. xx
