Seeing Right Through
I’m not prudish – well I didn’t think I was, but perhaps by the end of this blog you may think differently about me.
I’m not keen on sheer fabrics where they are worn with nothing underneath. I’m sure the beautiful fabric against the skin feels lovely, but I don’t see how adding another layer wouldn’t be such a bad thing. Is it too much to ask to wear a bra so that we don’t get subjected to, how can I put it nicely “wobbling flesh”. Which leads me to the fashion show I went to over the weekend?
Whitecliffe were showcasing collections from their Year 2 and 3 fashion students and as a proud Aunt I was there to see my niece’s collection entitled “Carousel”. I was really impressed with a lot that I saw and believe the future of NZ fashion is in very capable hands. The use of layering and oversized garments was popular using dark and sombre palettes of colour. A splash of pink and orange would bring an element of surprise, along with crisp white. Of course the use of sheer fabric always leaves nothing to the imagination. Why? I thought surely students of this age would know better!
Yes I admit that I do have beautiful sheer fabrics hanging in my wardrobe, but I wouldn’t ever leave the house without a layer underneath – trust me.
congrats to your niece 🙂
Thanks so much. I only wish that I could sew as I never got that gene!
