What is Style? Home Edition
A friend visited last week, who has a keen eye for style both fashion and interiors. I wanted to get some advice from her on restoring my home back to its finer glory. She gave me some great ideas, one that particularly appealed, being to ‘colour block’ my books. I debated over what colours to put where and didn’t realise how many books I had, let-alone how many were pink. Once I got my colour palette sorted, it really transformed into a stylish new book-shelf and had an great overall effect on my bedroom.
My next project was to reduce the amount of blank walls in the house and to buy some flowers, and attempt some flower arranging. I ended up going to Bed Bath & Beyond and purchased some flowers and a little greenery that I hoped could be turned into something visually interesting. For a first time arranger, I was actually pretty happy with my finished look. Let me know what you think and don’t worry, I won’t be giving up my day job anytime soon.
My next DIY project is to print out some of the images from my travels and put those into frames. There is nothing quite as satisfying as using your own images and design ideas.

The colour blocking looks great Helen, and you’ve done a great job at floral arranging.

Thanks for the great idea and for your kind words … styling myself seems so much easier than a house!!
