Sitting pretty on Big Bird!

Yellow Chair (Big Bird)

I have been on the hunt for a chair to go with my writing desk. It sounds a fairly simple exercise but I have travelled many miles, only to be continually disappointed once I see what is on offer. My criteria was that it needed to swivel, be able to change in height and come in yellow – oh and be comfortable.  This chair is to be my yellow tulip writing chair so needs to live up to my high expectations.

I engaged a friend to look out for ‘the one’. She being an ‘interior designer’ and way more qualified to assist. Therefore it wasn’t long before she led me to UFL, located in Avondale, Auckland – as she had seen a chair she thought I would like the style of.  She was absolutely right. Choosing fabric, and base was easy – once we narrowed down the options that were available.  There was one catch – the chair would take 12 weeks to find me as had to come from Spain. That was ok – I was happy to wait.  It then got me thinking …. how could I sneak a couple of pairs of lovely spanish shoes along with my chair (for the ride).

My chair arrived safely (minus the shoes) and has been nicknamed ‘big bird’ (guess being so big and yellow) and, as you are reading this, I am probably sitting on ‘big bird’ getting inspiration for my next blog.

I fell into the art of style quite by accident. There was no defining moment when I decided that I knew what I wanted to do. I want people to feel good about themselves. Many don’t know where to shop and/or how to wear fashion. It has never been solely about cost, but of finding quality at a reasonable price and being able to wear - to suit your own figure, style and fashion. Join me as we explore – What is Style?
