I first notice the girls carrying their bottle of Moet into the Fashion Show looking ever so casual, while wandering to take their seats. It would appear that style has most certainly come to town. You would expect to see the crowd wearing black and they were. Everyone looked too cool for a photo opportunity unless you had paparazzi in tow. Colour sprinkled by way of patterns including the ever so popular botanical theme dotted the crowd.
Guys in suits are everywhere. Looking well groomed, co-ordinated, but with that little X-factor. Makes you wonder whether some have just stepped from a James Bond movie (minus the body of course). The suits fit like gloves. Perhaps they have been custom-made. What is style is well validated by the male crowd and was a sight worth appreciating.
The show will be remembered for the strong showing of fluorescent lime green, yellow and electric blue. The splash of colour was all that was needed to mix the textures together, and provide a cohesive collection that stood out for all the right reasons. Layered pieces were also shown in Zambesi’s more traditional dark and muted colours
The range had just the right mix to complement the structured, slick-backed hair, make-up and styling. I felt for the first time that many, who may have been scared-off previously by this label, would be more than willing to step in-store and experience Zambesi for the first time.
For me, I loved that winter 2012 will have a colour palette hard to miss walking along our streets next year. The fact I will have a legitimate excuse to wear my favourite colour yellow is a bonus.
