Zambesi Fashion Show Has a Bright Edge

I first notice the girls carrying their bottle of Moet into the Fashion Show looking ever so casual, while wandering to take their seats.  It would appear that style has most certainly come to town.  You would expect to see the crowd wearing black and they were.  Everyone looked too cool for a photo opportunity unless you had paparazzi in tow.   Colour sprinkled by way of patterns including the ever so popular botanical theme dotted the crowd.

Zambesi - Fashion Week 2011

Guys in suits are everywhere. Looking well groomed, co-ordinated, but with that little X-factor.  Makes you wonder whether some have just stepped from a James Bond movie (minus the body of course).  The suits fit like gloves.  Perhaps they have been custom-made.  What is style is well validated by the male crowd and was a sight worth appreciating.

The show will be remembered for the strong showing of fluorescent lime green, yellow and electric blue.  The splash of colour was all that was needed to mix the textures together, and provide a cohesive collection that stood out for all the right reasons. Layered pieces were also shown in Zambesi’s more traditional dark and muted colours

The range had just the right mix to complement the structured, slick-backed hair, make-up and styling.   I felt for the first time that many, who may have been scared-off previously by this label, would be more than willing to step in-store and experience Zambesi for the first time.

For me, I loved that winter 2012 will have a colour palette hard to miss walking along our streets next year.  The fact I will have a legitimate excuse to wear my favourite colour yellow is a bonus.

I fell into the art of style quite by accident. There was no defining moment when I decided that I knew what I wanted to do. I want people to feel good about themselves. Many don’t know where to shop and/or how to wear fashion. It has never been solely about cost, but of finding quality at a reasonable price and being able to wear - to suit your own figure, style and fashion. Join me as we explore – What is Style? 1. Hi – looking for advice on where to buy good quality gym gear and also looking for stylish bedside tables – can you help?

    • The new Nike store at Britomart sells a great range of sportswear and would definately be worth having a look at. They stock other labels, other than just Nike so a good selection and variety. There is also another store called Lululemon Athletica also based at Britomart and on Ponsonby Road, who have an excellent selection of athletic gear, so I would recommend to check out both as the ranges are quite different.
In regard to bed-side tables – having been looking recently myself. I have had better luck actually sourcing them from Trade Me and also visiting a few second-hand dealers. It depends on whether you are wanting something more traditional or stylish.
