A place to call home!
No time for fashion lately – it’s house hunting and trying to find Yellow Tulip a new place to blog and live. Every spare moment spent looking on Trade Me Properties or the various Real Estate web-sites looking and emailing Agents, who invariably don’t bother to ring me back!! It is frustrating to say the least – you end up having to email, phone, text and then wait !!
What am I looking for? My new home has to be a place big enough for my boxes of books, some sun to keep me happy and warm and of course handy for a run or a stroll to the shops and a really BIG wardrobe goes without saying. Ideally, with at least two bedrooms, so room for me and my clothes, plus a bath would be nice. It also needs to have a special space for the baby grand piano. I don’t own one yet, but will do within the next couple of months.
However I am changing my mind like the wind when it comes to the type of house I am looking at. I don’t want something old and cold, but something light and bright. I also like two-storied and with high ceilings. Therefore why am I looking at a single-level house built-in the 1890’s with no bath, or for that matter, a character home from years gone by that has 3 bedrooms but little living space. I am a contemporary, new age girl who likes new! I hate being so contrary and it just isn’t in my nature to keep changing my mind. It is such a big decision buying a property and one not to be taken lightly. My ultimate home would be a New York Loft style, not something easily found in Auckland. It may be easier for me to just move to New York. Problem solved. With the rampant house prices at the moment, the wisest decision may be to rent – but I want a place to call home.
Meanwhile the packing of boxes continues and I’ll keep on looking and hoping that the perfect house will appear, as I am sure it will. Meanwhile, some very nice friends of mine who have a spare room, have kindly offered to look after a homeless girl. THANKS.
when In doubt – a vision board!!! I swear, they manifest!
There is also a spare room here in Seattle….and it is summer….
Haven’t done my vision board recently or updated – so perhaps I need to do that first. Glad its summer where you are .. pretty cold in NZ at the moment.

What about an apartment? Not a new, tiny, box type of apartment that developers are so fond of building these days, but an older style one that has more space and could be renovated or decorated into a loft style to suit you. Or something “mid-century” (built in the ’60s or ’70s) – homes like that often had more open plan living spaces. Great that you have a friend to stay with while you work it all out. Good luck!!
Would love a New York loft – and hopefully may find one. Am being very open-minded about what I am looking at – as long as doesn’t leak, not a reclad or made of plaster !!
