A WORLD away
The great thing about fashion is its uncanny ability to transport you somewhere else; on a journey to a time and place inspired by the designers’ vision. That is exactly what WORLD did on Saturday night as part of the 10 days of Fashion in the City, at the Britomart Precinct in Auckland.
The collection opened with WORLD’s Autumn/Winter 2014 range, which included an array of suiting combinations both in matching and contrasting fabrics; not to be outdone by the all-conquering futuristic Super Heroes of WORLD fame which closed the show.
Never one to shy away from colour and keen to push the boundaries of style in a way that only WORLD can, the show started with a playful men’s navy spot suit, with blazer and matching trousers; complimented with what looked like a crisp shirt and vivid baby blue belt. The mustard ensemble (or some may call it yellow) suit that followed, showed us that a women’s suit needn’t be boring, and worn with sneakers, gave it a laid back street-attitude that would and should appeal to many. There were a couple of shapely black dresses, one with grey and another just plain. To me they were wardrobe classics, with no fuss.
The show stoppers were without a doubt the Super Heroes with their flowing capes, form-fitting silhouettes, tightly concealed arsenals of attitude and weapons of style. Thank you for taking us all away to another WORLD entirely; one full of make-believe and where dreams can come true.
superheroes never go out of style 🙂
So true my friend.
